AT - AT Imperial Walker Limited Edition
The Empire maintains order by striking fear into its member star systems. Few weapons of mass destruction instill terror in an enemy more effectively than the fearsome All Terrain Armored Transport (AT-AT) or Imperial AT-AT. Exploiting its almost-unlimited resources, the Empire has produced a mobile weapons and troop deployment vehicle that is equally capable on almost any of the varied worlds spread throughout the galaxy........
Standing on four, piston-driven hydraulic legs, each ending in a huge shock-absorbing footpad, the Imperial AT-AT reaches a height of fifteen and a half meters. Equipped with two side-mounted quad-blasters and two chin-mounted heavy blaster cannons, it is capable of inflicting massive damage to enemy emplacements, while its own densely armored panels can deflect even the heaviest of incoming blaster fire.
A series of models ranging in size from about two inches high to approximately four-feet tall were used to bring this behemoth to life in The Empire Strikes Back. Using the technique of stop-motion animation, the Imperial AT-AT was moved incrementally one frame at a time to achieve the illusion of movement. Projected at the normal film rate of 24 frames per second, the Imperial AT-AT gracefully thunders across the icy Hoth battleground.
To create the 19-inch high, articulated stop-motion models, the talented artisans of Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) built a master pattern, detailing it with hundreds of parts taken from model kits such as jet fighters, rockets, and tanks. This master was molded, and copies were cast in resin and assembled onto machined metal articulated skeletons. The resin and metal parts were attached using dozens of tiny screws. If you watch carefully, you will see that many of these screws are actually visible on the Imperial AT-ATs in the film!
Master Replicas chose to copy the 19-inch models in exact 1:1 scale for our first studio-scale vehicle replica. MR employed a number of processes in creating the ultimate, authentic replica of the Imperial AT-AT. We first consulted ILM model makers about the construction and function of the original models and reviewed images of the models published since the movie's first release. Most importantly however, we secured an intact model from the Lucasfilm archive for reference. This model was digitally scanned to accurately replicate the intricate proportions, subtle curves, and angles of the original design. Hundreds of measurements and photographs were also taken of this model for reference.
Master Replicas designers also located the hundreds of parts that ILM used to detail the original filming models. Each part was compared alongside the filming model to make sure it was an exact match before being cataloged for use. Our prototyping shop then combined all of this data to create an articulated master pattern that captured all of the details of the original filming model. Finally, a permanent pose was selected that we felt best captured the dramatic, iconic image of this classic vehicle. We have even simulated the decompression action of the rising footpad as the Imperial AT-AT stomps its way over the terrain.
Each Imperial AT-AT is meticulously hand painted to match the original color scheme used on the filming models. Key structural areas were also reinforced to ensure long-term stability. This was a critical detail that we felt was very important to protect the value of your investment.
Like the original, our replica's head and body are cast from high-quality resin. To ensure intricate detail and durability, many of the fine parts have been reproduced from injection-molded plastic. The legs are made from solid, high-strength thermo-plastics and die-cast metal for long term durability.
Each AT-AT replica is comprised of over 230 separate parts and comes with a custom display case, numbered plaque, and certificate of authenticity, Including an exclusively designed expanded prop story and AT-AT screen shot.
With over 18 months of hard work to bring this extremely complex Imperial AT-AT from concept to reality. These efforts resulted in a stunning replica that is identical in size, detail and finish to the ones seen on-screen.
